New Year and a New Beginning
It's hard to believe that the song '1999' was popular 20 years ago as we turned the century milestone. How time does fly! Here we are in 2019 and the New Year is a good time to look back and ponder our successes, challenges, gained knowledge and new directions and bring our experience forward.
As a contractor for 28 years, my goal was to protect people's investments. Damsel in Defense came into my life almost 5 years ago and I reflect on the fact that I transitioned from protecting people's investment to protecting people's lives. I joined Damsel's mission the very day it was presented to me and never looked back.
Many of us are alone in our day. I always felt this uneasiness about my safety and in all honesty didn't know there were tools available. I was vigilant and aware of my surroundings but after joining Damsel my reality about safety took on a deeper meaning.
Many times women are interested in having me do a presentation for those in their personal and professional circle after they've attended one. Life being what it is, the intent is put aside so doing blogs and sending out information to those I can reach is important, I hope to inspire everyone to seriously consider their safety and the safety of those they love. Criminals are hiding in plain sight. All we have to do is watch the news and see the tragedies of people that didn't think it could happen to them.
I can't begin to tell you how much safer I feel today knowing I am empowered and can protect myself should I feel threatened.
I feel privileged to do safety presentations and demonstrate our tools. Doing many types of events from people's homes, vendor events to the professional community, it's always fun to meet so many great people. I can honestly say that almost 100% of the time a woman will be brave to tell her frightening story openly or approach me after my presentation. It's more prevalent than the general population knows. I carried my own guilt and shame, and in sharing my story, it inspires women to drop theirs and be whole.
I hope you'll consider hosting a safety presentation and invite those you love – family, friends and neighbors. Simply by hosting one or referring me to business organizations you have joined Damsel's mission. I am as near as the telephone as well as my website and of course online. My motive is to keep you and those you love safe.
I wish you safety, health, success and lots of love!
